Hatchling Petrosaurus thalassimus
#1
Hi All

My petrosaurus eggs hatched after 53 days at a temp of 87F. 12 of the 15 eggs hatched. The other 3 died at various stages along the way. I lost one since hatching that was a runt and weak. The others seem to be thriving now on 1/8" crickets. Her are some photos of the little guys.

Thank you Thilde. Yes a pity that some died. I think that my experience with the insectivores had something to do with it. I mostly keep herbivores now so if I was more prepared I might have had better results.

It is a crown of your work.
What was the length when they was borne?

Maybe next year we have also hatchlings, that should to be a lovely experience.

We wish you good luck and much pleasure whit the hatchlings Tongue

Hi Tom,

Congratz with the realy nice little animals!!! I noticed that there are a few animals who look a bit redisch, does the collour difference have something to do with the sex?

Grtz,
Hendrik

Thanks for all the encouraging words people. Hendrik- All the animals are pretty much the same and that has nothing to do with sex. It just shows up on some animals better due to the way the light reflected on them from the flash. However petro thalassinus can be sexed at a month old or less by the vent scales. If you do a search in this forum you will see photos O posted on how to do it.
